A Bizarre Phenomenon

   David Gregson

Every now and then something happens that defies logic, something so strange that it's almost as though the natural laws that we take for granted have been temporarily suspended. I have such a bizarre phenomenon to relate.

My incident took place during the so-called 'terrorist' attacks of September 2001. No, not the destruction of the World Trade Centre by those 'evil'
terrorist hijackers - seven of whom are (bizarrely) still alive - but the attack on the Pentagon by a Boeing 757.

Shortly after Manhattan was attacked, Flight 77 executed an amazingly tight turn and struck the Pentagon virtually at ground level. Many experienced commercial and military pilots commented that this maneouvre would have tested even the most skilled prefessional pilot, and the fact that Hani Hanjour was allegedly at the controls is unbelievable! Hanjour, who had never flown a jet aircraft before, was described by his flight instructer as "a nice enough fellow but a terrible pilot."

No, this isn't the bizarre phenomenon.

The Pentagon, headquarters of the US military, is one of the most secure buildings in the world. Not only that, it is constantly being monitored, day and night, inside and out, by hundreds of cctv cameras. What is truly amazing is that none of these cameras, we are told, managed to film the 757 crashing into the Pentagon.
All we saw were three of four frames of an explosion from one camera. Meanwhile, video from a nearby filling station camera, which would have shown the crash in detail, was confiscated immediately afterwards by the FBI. Bizarre? No, this still isn't it - neither is the fact that the spot where the aircraft hit had recently been strengthened!

A Boeing 757 is a relatively fragile aircraft, unlike say.. oh, I don't know... a bunker-busting missile. Nevertheless, this large airliner crashed through the steel-reinforced outer wall of the Pentagon, and then through another three, metre-thick, steel-reinforced interior walls - leaving a hole only three metres in diameter. And, strangely, even though the tail of a 757
is 13 metres high and its wingspan is 40 metres, the outer wall of the Pentagon didn't fall until half an hour after the crash! Amazing?
Certainly,
but it still isn't the bizarre phenomenon I have in mind...

A Boeing 757 is a huge aircraft, unlike say... oh, I don't know... a bunker-busting missile... and yet NO wreckage was found! No wreckage? No wings, no engines (each of which is nearly three metres in diameter and weighs several tons) no fuselage, no seats, no passengers, not even a packet of complementary nuts... nothing. "All vaporised" was the official story.

Amazing! Phenomenal, bizarre!? Well, yes, but wait just a moment...

We all saw, on live TV, the fire engines at the crash scene tackling the blaze. We all saw NO wreckage, we waited until part of the outer wall collapsed. Some of us may even have wondered why there was ver little fire - considering the thousands of gallons of fuel on board a recently-taken-off Boeing 757. The whole building should have gone up in flames and burned for days...

Yes, we were told that a large airliner had been flown expertly into the Pentagon at ground level, left a four-metre hole through three or four metres of steel-reinforced concrete and vapourised into thin air, leaving no impression on dozens of cctv cameras...

And now here's the truly bizarre phenomenon:

WE BELIEVED THEM!!!

I'm not just talking about Americans, who seem to believe everything coming out of their TV sets. No, I'm talking about the rest of us, out here in the civilised world. We believe that this inexperienced pilot, this small hole, no real fire, no wreckage... was caused by a fully loaded Boeing 757 weighing 120 tons!

What else will we believe?
